HAARP and The Grid Universe

A Real Location in a Fictional World

HAARP — the High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program — is a real facility located in Gakona, Alaska. In The Grid Universe that location takes on an entirely different meaning. The surface structures are long gone. What the thirteen colonies of 2137 do not know is what was built beneath them.

The Oracle's Home

Deep underground at the Gakona site sits the most sophisticated artificial intelligence ever constructed. The Oracle has been there for nearly a century — dormant, waiting, buried beneath wilderness that gives no sign of what lies below. When the colonies restore power to the grid in 2137 they are not just turning the lights back on. They are feeding energy to something that has been waiting for exactly that moment.

Science Fiction Grounded in Real Geography

The Grid Universe uses real locations as the foundation for its fiction. The Gakona Alaska site is real. The Oracle and its underground facility are entirely science fiction. The story makes no claims about the actual HAARP program. It simply asks — what if something was built there that nobody knew about?
