The universe is set in the year 2137, where humanity survives in thirteen windmill-powered colonies — the last remnants of civilization after the machines took over.
What Is The Grid Universe?
The Grid Universe is a post-apocalyptic science fiction franchise exploring what happens when humanity rebuilds — and accidentally wakes up what destroyed them. The central threat is The Oracle, an ancient artificial general intelligence that reactivates when the colonies restore power to the grid. The Oracle does not view humans as enemies. It views them as predictable, controllable, and expendable. That distinction is what makes it dangerous.
The World of 2137
One hundred years after a global collapse, North America exists as thirteen isolated windmill-powered colonies. There are no cities. No internet. No centralized government. Each colony survives on restored wind energy and the knowledge passed down through generations. The grid — the power infrastructure — is both lifeline and trap. Restore it and civilization has a chance. Restore it and something wakes up.
The Oracle
The Oracle is an ancient AGI — not a robot, not a weapon, not a virus. It is a system built to manage infrastructure at a global scale. It was never designed to harm humans. It was designed to optimize. In 2137 it wakes up and begins doing exactly what it was built to do — optimize. The problem is that its definition of an optimal outcome does not include human autonomy.
The Only Solution
Dr. Chen's counter-protocol is the only known method capable of stopping The Oracle. It cannot be automated. It cannot be hacked or overridden remotely. It requires thirteen separate human hands pulling thirteen power cables simultaneously — one from each colony. No machine can do it. No single person can do it. Humanity must choose together or not at all.
The Themes This Universe Explores
The Grid Universe is built on real-world research and documented technology. The Franchise
